Advancing Stroke Care in Interior Health

Funds will be dedicated to the acquisition of the most advanced equipment, quality improvement measures and innovation in treatment and recovery needed to ensure our loved ones receive world-class stroke care, close to home.

Discover the five featured ways your gifts will transform stroke care in our region.

Advanced Neuro-Interventional Equipment

Restoring blood flow to the brain is the cornerstone of therapy for patients with a clot blocking blood flow. The acquisition of equipment and clinical space required to implement Endovascular Thrombectomy Neuro-interventional service (EVT), the new standard of care for acute ischemic stroke, at Kelowna General Hospital is fundamental.

Patient Access, Rehabilitation,
Research and Quality Improvement

Patient Access:

The stroke campaign will fund the expansion of telehealth service throughout the southern interior region. Interior Health is fast becoming an industry leader in remote telehealth, an exciting field that allows rural patients to access world-class physicians, specialists and diagnostics from their home communities.

Advanced Rehabilitation:

The proposed KGH Centre for Excellence for Upper Limb Recovery Post Neurologic Injury will improve access to rehabilitation services for stroke patients, as well as other brain injuries and diseases in both the acute and long-term recovery phases.

Quality Improvement:

Funding is also needed to support the on-site development of skills and protocols relating to stroke management.

Strategic Innovation in Regional Stroke Care

The KGH Foundation’s Stroke Innovation Fund will support projects, initiatives and equipment aimed at reducing the impact of stroke for those living in the Interior Health region, in particular, rural, remote and Indigenous communities.

The ‘Every Moment Matters’ campaign set out to raise $8 million for advanced stroke care. Thanks to the generous support of the community, we achieved our goal.

Giving truly does change everything. Thank you.
