|Bruce McAuliffe – Chair/Director
Bruce McAuliffe has been President of BC South since June 2008 and is based in Kelowna BC. Prior to relocating to Kelowna, Bruce was Publisher of The Surrey North Delta Leader and Vice President of Black Press Lower Mainland. He began his newspaper career in 1989 and has been with Black Press for more than 19 of those years. He is a strong believer in community and the role and responsibilities of community Newspapers.
He served 8 years on The Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation Board of Directors and is currently in his 6th year, serving on The Kelowna General Hospital Foundation Board of Directors.
Peter MacPherson – Vice-Chair/Director
Peter is a partner with the regional law firm of Farris, Vaughan, Wills & Murphy LLP, and practises as a corporate and commercial solicitor.He has served on the board of the Foundation since 2012, and currently sits on the Executive, Strategic Development and CEO Performance & Compensation Committees. He previously chaired the Planned Giving Committee.As an active member of the community, Peter has previously served as Chair of the Board of the United Way of the Central & South Okanagan/Similkameen, President of the Kelowna Estate Planning Society, director of the Kelowna Visual & Performing Arts Centre Society, director of the Okanagan Science & Technology Council and director of Project Literacy Kelowna Society.When not busy with his professional practice and community endeavours, Peter enjoys recreational hockey and soccer, humours himself with golf and, most of all, enjoys time spent with his wife and three growing and active children.

Sean Armstrong – Director
Sean Armstrong is a retired bank executive. Prior to retirement he was the Regional Vice-President Commercial Banking for Bank of Montreal responsible for the B.C. Interior and Vancouver Island markets.Sean has over 32 years experience in the financial services sector covering a variety of leadership roles in personal and commercial banking, lending and credit management.His career with BMO included management roles in Saskatchewan and throughout British Columbia relocating to Kelowna in 2005.Sean has a Masters of Business Administration from Dalhousie University in Financial Services and is a past Director and President & CEO of BMO Mortgage Corporation.
|Terry Armstrong – Director
For the past 28 years Terry has developed his media career at The Okanagan Valley Newspaper Group. Currently he is the Group Publisher and Vice President of the newspaper group and is responsible for all aspects of their Okanagan operations.Terry is an active member of the community. He has been a Director with the KGH Foundation since 2013. Additionally, Terry is the President of the “Be an Angel Foundation”, a foundation dedicated to helping the less fortunate in our community.His volunteer work does not end there. Terry is also a Board Member for the Telus Community Board, is a Board Trustee with the Printing Industry Health and Welfare board and serves on the Board of the Canadian Newspaper Advisory CouncilTerry is also involved in the youth and sports community. He is a Board member with the Kelowna International Major Midget Hockey Tournament, is on the Board for Kelowna Community Resources and was a Nancy Green Ski Racing Coach.Terry has lived in Kelowna since 1982. He and wife, Robin, have two grown children.

CPA – Chartered Professional Accountant and TEP – Trust and Estate Practitioner, President – Corbett Family Enterprise Consulting Inc.Bill has the following professional background: Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta; Member of Chartered Accountants of BC ; Member of STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners); Life Member of Kelowna Estate Planning Society; Founding Director of CAFE Okanagan (Canadian Association of Family Enterprise); and Retired Partner in KPMG.Bill has thirty-five years of experience in providing tax, succession, estate and financial planning advice to individuals and businesses. He currently serves as a board member or advisor to several private Kelowna companies.Bill has served Kelowna as a director, officer and coach of community organizations. For 4 years, he has been a Director of the KGH Foundation. Additionally, Bill has worked with the Southern Interior Regional Development Council of the BC Cancer Foundation and he served for a decade as a Director of the Central Okanagan Child and Family Resources Society (The BridgeWhen not working, Bill can be found golfing, walking and spending time with his family.
|Clayton Gall – Director
Clayton brings over 25 of years of experience in the investment and financial services industry to his role with RBC PH&N Investment CounselPrior to joining the firm and opening the new Kelowna office in December 2010, Clayton held numerous positions at Phillips, Hager & North which he joined in 1991.Clayton holds the Canadian Investment Manager (CIM) designation and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). He is a member of the CFA Institute, CFA Society Toronto, and is also both the immediate Past President and member of the CFA Society Okanagan. In 2016, Clayton was elected as Presidents Council Representative for Canada to the CFA Institute Board of Governors and Leadership Team.
Locally, Clayton is a Director of the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation. He is also a Director and Co-President of the Kelowna Art Gallery. Clayton was the PH&N United Way Campaign Chair from 1999 to 2010 and was recognized with the PH&N Chairman’s Award in 2006.
Clayton lives in Kelowna with his wife and two children.
|Dr. Gary Goplen – Director
Dr. Goplen is currently a Neurosurgeon at KGH. Prior to moving to Kelowna 18 years ago, Dr. Goplen held a Faculty Position at the University of Saskatchewan.He and his wife, Nancy, have raised two children in Kelowna. Speed skating has been a big part of my family for 3 generations.Dr. Goplen is loves being out on a trail any time of year.

|Allan Hryniuk – Director
Allan is the Managing Partner who brings 27 years industry experience to the table. Allan works with Incorporated Professionals and Business owners creating comprehensive financial plans for them and their practice or business.Allan graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Physical Education majoring in business. After graduation he joined a major insurance company as an advisor before moving on to become a training consultant and then spent 11 years as a Branch Manager for that company. Allan brings his wealth of knowledge to the Peacock Sheridan Group.Outside the office, Allan is a Board member for KGH Foundation and has spent 17 years as Co-Chairman and Trustee for the Sandman Harvest Foundation. He spent the past 12 years dedicating his time to the youth of Kelowna coaching baseball and hockey
Allan continues to be active and takes full advantage of living in the Okanagan by golfing, skiing, playing hockey, boating and keeping busy with his family all year round.
|Andrew Hughes – Appointee
Andrew Hughes is the Health Services Administrator at KGH, overseeing the operations of the KGH campus. He has been with Interior Health for 11 years, holding leadership positions in the community, primary health care sectors and most recently with the KGH Senior Leadership for the last 6 years.
|Clare Mallow – Director
Clare retired in 2002 as Office Manager at Kelowna Mental Health Centre (Interior Health).Clare joined the KGH Foundation Board June 2014 as an appointee representing the auxiliaries. In 2015 the Foundation changed this position to full directorship.Clare has been an active member of the Kelowna Auxiliary for 40 years and is honoured to be a Life Member and Past President twice of the Auxiliary. She has served on the Provincial Board of Hospital Auxiliaries representing the Okanagan/Mainline Region as well as Health Care Junior Volunteers in BC. Clare volunteers in the ‘Perking Lot” at KGH and serves as a TELUS Ambassador in Kelowna involved in many varied community events.
Additionally, Clare volunteers with Adaptive Adventures/CRIS Group. This non-profit group takes disabled people out in specialized equipment to accommodate their disability so they can enjoy exciting outdoor adventures.
Clare’s hobbies include piano and music, biking and gardening. Clare was born in the South Okanagan but has lived in Kelowna for 42 fabulous years.

|Dorothy Mills – Director
Dorothy relocated to Kelowna from Vancouver in 1978. She holds two accounting designations: CPA & CGA.Dorothy has been a director of the KGH Foundation since 2014 and serves on the Finance and Planned Giving Committees.Dorothy currently serves as a director on the board of our family’s international limestone business and also sits on the Audit, Pension and Benefits, and Environmental, Health and Safety Committees.
Additionally, Dorothy has been a Director of the Friends of Mission Creek since 1996. Dorothy is also a director of the Central Okanagan Land Trust since 2015.
With her passion for the equestrian world, Dorothy volunteered for numerous years with the Kelowna Riding Club board in many positions including treasurer. Dorothy served for 2 years on the Kelowna Arts Foundation and also with the Linear Parks Committee for Kelowna.
Dorothy’s hobbies include horseback riding, skiing and walking as well as travel and experiencing other cultures.
|Dr. Kevin Pistawka – Director
Dr. Pistawka has been a General cardiologist with KGH since 1994. His list of additional medical duties, responsibilities and accomplishments are lengthy. He is the Medical Director for COACH – cardiac rehabilitation program, an Associate Professor with UBC-Okanagan, the Cardiology lead for UBCO Medical Student/Resident education, the Okanagan Lead for Sports Cardiology BC and more.Dr. Pistawka completed graduated from the UBC School of Medicine in 1986 and completed his residency and internships in Ottawa, New Zealand and Vancouver in 1992. He received his Cardiology Fellowship in 1994.Dr. Pistawka has served on the board of the KGH Foundation since 2011. He has also been heavily involved as a Minor Hockey Coach and Trainer as well as a Youth Soccer Coach for the Okanagan Mission.
He and his wife, Anne, have 4 children. When not taking care of his patients, Dr. Pistawka enjoys travel, golf, skiing, biking and volleyball.
|Darrell Porubanec – Director
Darrell graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce Honors from the University of Manitoba in 1977. He retired as an investment advisor with RBC Dominion Securities after 29 years.Darrell began his career as a Sales Representative and eventually moved to the financial services industry. In 1984, Darrell completed his Chartered Financial Planner designation. He became a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute in 1988.In 1989 Darrell and his family were transferred to Kelowna. He is the former 2008-09 President of the Kelowna Estate Planning Society. Darrell has been one of the sponsors of B.C. Children’s Hospital Radiothon over the years. He was also involved with the Canadian Cancer Society Gala of Hope from 2008 to 2010. In 2013 he joined the Leadership Team for the Be a Lifesaver Campaign for the KGH Foundation to help raise $12 million for additional equipment for the new Interior Heart and Surgical Center. He currently is a director on the KGH Foundation.

In January 2013, A’Lana became an associate partner in the Crowe MacKay LLP client services group. Before relocating to the Okanagan in 2005, A’Lana was a manager with a national office in Prince George, BC. A’Lana provides corporate and personal tax compliance services and has been involved in corporate re-organizations and planning strategies, as well as personal tax planning with a focus on privately held businesses.A’lana is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA), CICA In-Depth Tax Program, Business. Additionally, she has a diploma in Administration in Accounting and Finance from College of New CaledoniaOutside of a busy professional life, A’lana serves a director for the KGH Foundation and the Kelowna Apple Triathlon Society. She also belongs to the Rotary Club of Kelowna.

|Sharon Varette – Director
Sharon joined the KGH Foundation Board in 2012 and is currently the Chair of the Governance Committee. She also sits on the Strategic Development, CEO Performance Review and Compensation, and Executive Committees.Prior to retiring to the Okanagan from Ontario, Sharon worked as a senior manager at KPMG and partner at Watson Wyatt Worldwide. She is a certified executive coach with the Hudson Institute of Santa Barbara and was a senior facilitator and coach with The Niagara Institute, a division of the Conference Board of Canada.Sharon also serves on the board of the YMCA of Okanagan as Vice Chair and was a long-term Director and CEO Coach of Actua, a national charity that prepares youth to be innovators and leaders.
Kelowna and the Okanagan have become home for Sharon and her husband, Cam Kourany. They enjoy hiking, biking, kayaking, skiing, golf and of course the fruits of the surrounding vineyards.
