Accountability:

At the KGH Foundation, we believe the true measure of a hospital foundation’s effectiveness lies in the lives we touch, the systems we help improve, and the communities we serve. Our work is deeply embedded in the realities of Canada’s public health care system, where innovation, compassion, and collaboration are essential for progress.

While third-party evaluators such as Charity Intelligence (Ci) apply a one-size-fits-all methodology, these frameworks do not reflect the unique operational realities of hospital foundations. Our mission is not to deliver direct services, but to catalyze health system transformation by connecting donors to urgent needs and future-focused opportunities.

We welcome accountability and are committed to transparency. At the same time, we advocate for evaluation standards that reflect what truly matters—improved patient care, health equity, and system innovation. As we continue to work alongside donors, health care professionals, and partners, our focus remains clear: advancing world-class health care.

Organizational Support Costs:

The KGH Foundation routinely operates below national averages for operational costs. The foundation supports its operations though; investment returns, unrestricted gifts, business revenues and allocations from designated gifts under the guidance of the KGH Foundation Board Administrative Recoveries Policy. The policy is available on request. Funds are used to improve healthcare in the Central Okanagan for the benefit of people within the interior of British Columbia, funds are not used to replace existing funding sources such as government support.
