The Heart of BC 50/50 Lottery Returns This Valentine’s Day – Fall in Love with a Jackpot Over $250,000!

KELOWNA, BC, February 13, 2026 – In advance of Valentine’s Day, the Heart of BC 50/50 Lottery returns for its third iteration with the same mission; to change one lucky winner’s life and build healthier communities throughout the heart of British Columbia.

This past summer, the Heart of BC surpassed $650,000 in ticket sales, with the winner celebrating a $329,022.50 prize. The impact of that impressive jackpot is already being felt, right here at home. Proceeds from the summer draw are now helping fund the Canada Mental Health Association (CMHA) West Kelowna Expansion Project, with the goal of opening a new Foundry – a centre offering free youth mental health support.

With tickets on sale from now until March 13th at midnight, the Heart of BC invites residents across the Southern Interior to take part in an initiative designed to strengthen local communities while offering the chance to win a growing cash prize. Once again partnering with the YMCA of Southern Interior BC and local hospital & health foundations across the Interior Health Authority, the proceeds from tickets stay in the communities that they are purchased in, helping community partners deliver essential services where they are needed the most.

Each and every ticket purchased for the Heart of BC 50/50 provides vital funding for proactive, upstream solutions across the entire spectrum of health and wellbeing. Proceeds help keep individuals out of hospitals and urgent care centres through programs such as Sport for Life (funded by the inaugural lottery) which promotes physical literacy in schools and gives students the tools to be physically competent, build confidence, and understand the value of physical movement.

“The impact of this lottery doesn’t end when we draw the winner,” Chandel Schmidt, VP of Philanthropy of the KGH Foundation says, “We’re thrilled to already be allocating funds to the CMHA expansion in West Kelowna. The winter iteration of the Heart of BC is about continuing to build on the momentum that we have built in the first year.”

As the Heart of BC 50/50 enters its second year and third iteration, it continues to demonstrate how collective generosity can shape the future of care and support in the region. What begins as a ticket purchase can become expanded access to mental health services, stronger programs, and healthier communities.

Tickets are available online at heartofbc.ca. Participants must be 19 years of age or older and physically located in British Columbia at the time of purchase. Lottery license #166661.

Since 1978, the KGH Foundation has worked with a generous community to raise funds to support world-class healthcare close to home for a growing and diverse population in the interior of B.C. Today, the KGH Foundation is the lead fundraising organization for Kelowna General Hospital, JoeAnna’s House, and Central Okanagan Hospice House, while also fundraising for vital community health care programs
