Mr. Shields relocated to British Columbia from his hometown of Churchill, Manitoba. He attended the Fraser Valley College, Simon Fraser University, Queens University and the University of British Columbia. While attending university, Wesley obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree, Masters of Public Administration degree and a Bachelor Law degree. He article din Vancouver and became a member of the Law Society of BC in 1990 when he was called to the Bar. Mr. Shields has practiced law in the Kelowna area since that time.
Mr. Shields has been an ardent supporter of a variety of community groups including:
The Kelowna Chamber of Commerce, Citizens Against Child Exploitation, BC Coalition of People with Disabilities, Kelowna Crime Stoppers, Kelowna Kinsmen Club and many others. He is an occasional lecturer with UBC Okanagan, a Member of the Law Society of BC and the past president of the Kelowna Bar Association.
While his professional and volunteer work keeps him very busy, Mr. Shields enjoys time spent with his wife and two children. He coaches soccer and is active in hockey, golf and outdoor recreational activities.
