Driving the vision forward

The KGH Foundation is driven by
passionate professionals…

dedicated to upholding the mission, vision and values of the organization.

Doug Rankmore

Chief Executive Officer

With 40 years in the non-profit sector, including 32 years in leadership positions, Doug brings wisdom, experience, mentorship and a deep understanding of the impact that philanthropy can have in a community. Reporting to the Board of Directors, Doug is responsible for the overall health and wellbeing of all aspects of the foundation. Under his leadership, the foundation has successfully achieved the completion of several landmark campaigns including the capital project for the Interior Heart & Surgical Centre; a world-class perinatal unit at KGH; Foundry Kelowna, JoeAnna’s House and most recently, the completion of the IH Cardiac Sciences Program.

“I am inspired by how selfless people are – caring for others who they have never met and whose story they may never know.  But yet they give generously to make the situation of others better.  I have so much respect for those who act to make the world a better place.  In the end it’s all that matters.”

Lori Uzelman

Chief Financial Officer

Lori’s uncompromising commitment to integrity and meticulous work-ethic have made her one of the foundation’s most valuable assets for over 14 years. She is responsible for overseeing the foundations finance team, budgets, financial statements and legislative compliance. Under Lori’s leadership, the Finance team works rigorously to provide accurate, reliable financial reporting to account for every donor dollar in and out of our charitable organization.  With a focus on financial excellence and clean audits, our priority is to fulfill our responsibility to donors. Lori is steadfast, gentle-natured and holds the Foundation to the highest of standards.

“It is very important to me, especially given the nature of my work, that the qualities of diligence and transparency are reflected in everything we do. I’ve always held deep respect for health care, and it gives me satisfaction to know that the work we are doing will have such an impact in our community for generations to come.”

Allison Ramchuk

Chief Development Officer

Joining the foundation in 2017, Allison (Allie) has drawn on her 15 years in fundraising experience to become the asset to the organization she is today.  She endeared herself quickly to donors with her unyielding enthusiasm and ambitions.  Today, she leads the foundation’s development team and is responsible for resource and revenue development from strategy to program execution and budget oversight.

“Linking the passion and desires of donors to the needs/opportunities of the health system and KGH is such a privilege. I am inspired most by the people; our team, donors, clinicians & caregivers, and administrators and ultimately, the transformative changes to our system of care that become possible when we work together. I am grateful to be able to feel such purpose in my work.”

Nancy Wells

Director of Business Enterprises

It would be a feat to be sure to find someone that has graced the hallways of Kelowna General over the past 13 years as recognizable as Nancy.  With responsibility and oversight for all foundation business venues – the Perking Lot, Royal Bistro, Centennial Mercantile the Rutland Thrift Store and JoeAnna’s House – PLUS the hundreds of volunteers that staff them each and every day, Nancy leads by example, with compassion, grace and a whole lot of grit.  She is much beloved by KGH staff and the foundation team alike.

“I grew up on a farm and in my ‘spare’ time, I breed cattle. Thriving in a busy environment feels like home for me.  And that’s exactly what Kelowna General Hospital has become over the years.  These people are my family and my friends – from staff to volunteers to the donors themselves.  I would do anything for them.”

Shauna Nyrose

Director of Communications

When she joined the team in 2015 on a one year maternity leave contract, Shauna actually came out of ‘retirement’ from a nearly 20 year career in media and marketing in Vancouver and Kelowna.  She quickly fell in love with health care philanthropy and has elevated the communications portfolio to represent one of the most critical functions of the organization.  With a strong foundation in brand development and insatiable appetite for pushing the boundaries of traditional approaches to marketing communications, she has earned her own tagline, ‘Shauna Changes Everything.’

“I cannot imagine a more rewarding job. The stories are the best part – learning why people choose to give to support health care, listening to patients share about how their lives were changed or saved because someone chose to give – it’s incredibly moving and hardly feels like work. I am honoured to be their story-teller.”

“People always ask why, but maybe they should ask why not! You get to work with the nicest people, for the nicest people. It’s the best kind of job satisfaction you’ll ever find.”
