Kelowna General Hospital Foundation | What is Planned Giving?  What is Planned Giving

Planned giving is the joy of charitable giving paired with the satisfaction of saving taxes. It is charitable giving designed with your financial or your estate plans to ensure you receive the maximum tax benefit for your gift.

Planned giving lets you decide. Dollars that would typically be absorbed as taxes can be redirected towards the programs you want protected for the future.

A planned gift through the KGH Foundation is your opportunity to augment health care facilities, medical equipment, and patient care right here in Kelowna for now, and for future generations.

Make a planned gift during your lifetime or make one through your estate. Remember — regardless of your age or lifestyle every adult is advised to have a financial and an estate plan including a current valid Will.

Planned gifts made now

Experience the thrill of your gift today. Watch your gift at work saving lives.

Planned gifts designed for today maximize the tax savings on your gift. You receive a charitable tax receipt for the full value of your gift today. Any unused portion of your charitable tax receipt may be carried forward for up to five tax years after the year it is issued.

Planned gifts that flow later

Enjoy knowing you have a plan that includes building a positive future. Estate planning is essential regardless of your age. Every estate has 3 beneficiaries: family, the government, and charity. Your estate resembles a teeter-totter, with family in the center. The more directed to charity, the less flows to Government through taxes: the less directed to charity, the more flows to Government through taxes.

Though effective planning of your estate, you choose to direct funds to the KGH Foundation and your other charities of choice rather than sending them to Revenue Canada. The charitable tax receipt further assists your other beneficiaries by offsetting additional taxes.

Be Appreciated

If you have included the KGH Foundation in your estate plans or have planned a gift we encourage you to join our Legacy Circle. Legacy Circle Members have their named engraved on our Legacy Tree for their entire life in appreciation of their gift.

Legacy Circle Members also receive a Certificate of Appreciation and a framed photograph of their engraved leaf.

Be Remembered

After their passing, our Legacy Circle Member's name naturally transfers from the Legacy Tree over to an engraved Dove on our In Remembrance Wall.

Be Confident

Talking with us about your plans ensures that we understand and can realize your intentions. The details of your gift are held in confidence within our planned giving office unless you instruct us otherwise. If you wish to remain anonymous we have different levels of anonymity to suit your preferences. You may be comfortable disclosing the details of your gift to our Planned Giving Office yet choose not to be named publicly. Or you may wish your financial or legal advisor to let us know of your gift, but not disclose the financial details of your gift or who you are. Either way we value knowing that legacy plans have been made. It helps us know the community is behind our programs and which areas or initiatives are of interest to our community.
