7. Why does the KGH Foundation spend money publishing its annual report?
As a Canadian charitable Foundation and Society we are required to distribute an annual report. The Foundations objective is to remain transparent with the community; our donors tell us that they want us to be accountable for funds received. The annual report is a tool we use to let the community know where their donations go.
The annual report is available on our website for those who choose not to receive it by mail.

8. How does the KGH foundation choose to spend funds?
The Foundation strives to seek funding for the highest priority medical equipment and health care projects that are not funded with limited government funding. We work very hard to ensure that the funds raised go towards the needs identified and that adequate, ongoing operating funds are available so the equipment we buy doesn't sit idle or get moved to other parts of the Province. Since the expansion of the health region, our donated dollars are going further as more items are collectively purchased, bringing the individual cost of many pieces of equipment down.

The Kelowna General Hospital Foundation is also committed to keeping its own costs low and uses its unrestricted investment income to help offset administrative costs, so as much of the donated money, as possible, goes for the purposes intended. Each year, the Foundation meets with physicians, administrators and the staff of the various hospital and community care services, plus purchasing agents with the Interior Health Authority to determine what capital equipment and programs require the support of the Foundation. We apply donations once government funding is exhausted.
